Hiking and Colds don't Mix

We planned to join an urban hiking group on Sunday, but we were waylaid by my cold.  I think it has been three years since I've had a cold.  We don't take coughing, sniffling and sneezing lightly in this house.  Because of Ted's radiation treatments and chemo, his adrenal system was destroyed, which means that he doesn't have the natural ability to fight off things that come his way, likes colds, flu or food poisoning.

I have become a germ cop and make sure I wash my hands all the time. Despite this, I still caught the cold that has been flying around my office for the last three months.  I thought I might be in the clear, but I awoke Friday with a sore throat and knew the little microbes found their way into my head!  Oh well.  My birthday is on Wednesday, and I hope I'm up to celebrating.  After all, I'm going to be 50.  I can hardly believe it.  So far, Ted hasn't caught this nasty little virus.  Fingers crossed!
